I’ve been commissioned by An Tobar and Mull Theatre, our local arts organisation, to make a film about Mull and Iona during the 2nd World War, with a particular focus on VE day as part of the as part of Our Freedom: Then and Now, a national initiative to mark VE Day.
Do you have any stories, or do you know anyone who would be willing to share stories and photos about this fascinating time?
Are there stories that your parents told you of life here in WW2?
Would anyone who was a child at the time of WW2 be willing to talk with me?
Do you remember how VE Day was marked in your community in the past at all?
I’m delighted to be working with Mary Hall – MacLachlainn as producer of the film alongside Finlay Birch, with Tim Olden making music with students from Tobermory High to bring these stories to life. Mull Youth Theatre, under the direction of the wonderful Andi Stevens, will also be a part of the project. Having worked with Andi’s MYT in the past, I can’t wait to see what all we come up with, they’re a very talented group, indeed!
Thanks so much for your time and thoughts on this.
